Against International Competition, GPCL was awarded consultancy contract by Civil Defence Commission, Guyana, to carry out biannual Technical and Procurement audit over a period of three years, in reviewing the Procurement performance of the agencies implementing the World Bank aided El Nino Emergency Assistance Project in Guyana. GPCL’s audit reports outlining findings on progress, quality and project execution and recommendation for better procurement performance were submitted to the Bank and the Project Coordinator. The Bank has appreciated the efforts made by GPCL “to get a good product and to help the borrower make improvements.”

GPCL, selected through an international competitive process is assisting the Government of Guyana, in “Strengthening of its Procurement Administration“ under a Technical Assistance Credit from the World Bank. The assignment, spread over 14 months, demands GPCL’s technical leadership for the procurement reform program involving advice on Staffing, Training, Capacity Building, Implementation of Regulations under the Procurement Act, development of Standard Bidding Documents, and MIS for an efficient procurement monitoring by the National Procurement and Tender Administration.
